Partnership towns

Driebergen

The agreement on friendly co-operation between the towns Semily and Driebergen (The Netherlands) was solemnly signed on 29th August 1997. The Partnership document was signed by both then mayors of the towns, on behalf of Semily it was Ing. Václava Kodejšová, on behalf of Driebergen it was Mr. Reynoud Adolf van Rappard. The co-operation should enrich social and cultural life of the citizens of both towns, contribute to development of knowledge and mutual understanding of cultures of both countries.
A new agreement broadening the partnership co-operation until 2008 was signed by the mayors of both towns on 12th September 2003 in Driebergen. On behalf of Semily it was signed by Ing. František Mojžíš, on behalf of Driebergen it was signed by Mr. Hein Bloemen.

Schauenburg

The agreement on mutual relations and co-operation between the towns Semily and Schauenburg (Germany) was officially signed up on 21st March 1997.
The Partnership document was signed at the opening of the Crafts-trading exhibition which took place within the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the town foundation. The partnership of the towns was confirmed with signatures of then mayors of Semily and Schauenburg, Ing. Václava Kodejšová and Mr. Willi Klein.
The town Semily got in touch with Schauenburg through the town Vrchlabí, whereof partnership town is Baunathal, situated in the proximity of Schauenburg. In Baunthal there is a significant branch of the car factory Volkswagen, where many citizens of Schauenburg commute to work every day.
